Discover Andringitra
An exciting hike through Andringitra granitic massif will be at the heart of this trip.
Andringitra is a world apart, a magical village that is the beauty of the South. We will see the foothills of the mountain flooded with terraces, crops linking the green intensity of the primary forest and the gray austerity of granite peaks.
On this side, the mountains look like the reliefs of the Alps, only the vegetation differs. Thus, we will see Pic Boby, the second summit of Madagascar with its 2,658 m; the great cliffs of Tsaranoro and Anja with green valleys or hiding small villages far from everything.
Itineraries
day 1
ANTANANARIVO – ANTSIRABE
Departure to Antsirabe, the health resort of Madagascar. Crossing of the typical landscapes of the highlands strewed with rice fields and traditional houses.
Visit of a forge and the manufacturing of the “Gasy” Candy at Ambatolampy.
Free afternoon
Overnight at the hotel.
day 2
ANTSIRABE – FIANARANTSOA
Departure to Fianarantsoa. Stop at Ambositra. City tours, visit of the marquetery workshop.
Continuation of the trip after lunch,
Still in Malagasy highlands: landscape of terraced rice paddies and typical highlands traditional houses.

FIANARANTSOA – Parc National ANDRINGITRA (NAMOLY)
After breakfast, visit of Fianarantsoa city by foot
City Tours at Fianarantsoa: the upper city classified as “world heritage by UNESCO
Stop at Ambalavao and visit of the “Anteimoro Paper” manufacturing workshop, the market of the zebu (Wednesday)
After the lunch, driving to the National park of Andringitra.

Parc National ANDRINGITRA (02 jours de trek)
Trekking at National park of Andringitra. This hike leads you to the famous Peak Boby which peaks in 2658 m. This circuit is an authentic botanical garden of geophytes orchids which bloom in March on the shelf of Andohariana. The Helichrysum abietifolium Var gracilifolium and the Alchemilla andringitrensis also grow on the heights. Species of birds’ endemic as Neodrepansia hypoxantha or Hypsipetes madagascariensis overfly the sky of Imarivolanitra.

Continuation of the visit. Trekking in Andringitra National Park.

ANDRINGITRA – RANOHIRA
Breakfast and continuation of the trip in the discovery of the amazing sandstone Isalo massif dating back to the Jurassic times wildly eroded by wind and rain
Sunset at the window of Isalo.

Parc national d’Isalo
Visit of the Isalo National Park: canyon of makis and waterfall of nymphs
Lunch picnic.
Visit of black and blue natural swimming pools of the park and swimming

RANOHIRA – TULEAR – IFATY
Morning free.
Driving to Tulear after lunch. Admiration of Mahafaly decorated tombs along the way.
